The Georgia Fire Inspectors Association is pleased to present the 2010 Georgia Fire Inspector of the Year.

Zane Newman

Zane began his fire service career with the Americus Fire & Emergency Services in January of 1980. He started as a rookie firefighter and was quickly promoted to engineer. Then in 1994 he was promoted to the rank of Captain. After two years of service as captain he was transferred into the position of Fire Marshal. He is currently in charge of the Building Risk Management Division of the fire department and manages the Building Official, Code Enforcement Technician and four other fire investigators. He responsible for all Fire Safety and Code Compliance plan reviews and inspections as well as fire investigations. He has received extensive training in the fields of inspections and investigations.

He and his wife Lisa, have three children and one granddaughter. He enjoys cooking, golf and cooking with his competition BBQ cooking team the Grillmasters.
